another happy day for the babies...

the babies had their 27-week appointment today, and these little ones are moving right

along in their journey! i always get antsy the night before a big appointment, especially in the hour or so leading up the the actual ultrasound. we were the

1st appointment at 8 a.m; therefore, everything moved pretty quickly.

an hour and a half ultrasound + glucose test/bloodwork + dr visit = one long morning!!!

both babies have totally flip-flopped on us...that goes for both their little personalities AND their positions. the 1st 20 weeks or so of this pregnancy were photo opps for our little girl. she would look at us, pose, and perform in ways only little fashionistas-in-the-making do. however, last time she remained tucked behind my pelvic bone. today, she would not show her face at all! her brother, however, was a precious little ham! he gave us 2 great profile pics which allowed us to see his puckered lips and turned, pouty mouth. simply adorable.

baby A (girl) is now breech. her feet are down by my left hip, and her little body is curved up to the right in a backwards "C" position placing her head up by my belly button. baby B (boy) is now head down and taking up my whole left side. his feet are right above my belly button and his body is in a curved position putting his head down on my left side. as of a month ago, he was the breech baby and she was head down. these two are already making a strong tag-team duo!

as for their measurements...she was approximately 2 pounds 3 ounces. he was coming in at approximately 2 1/2 pounds even. i guess our little man got tired of being the shrimp between the two. i almost picture him "sneaking" into his sister's placenta and stealing some of her milk, strawberries, and other yummy treats without her knowing! his head is also measuring larger (which is normal for baby boys supposedly). i am glad he has his daddy's smart lawyer brain growing inside and NOT mommy's:)

their heartbeats, beginning breathing techniques, fluid levels, etc. all received good reports as well. like i said in the beginning of today's post, these little ones had a great day. mommy, on the other hand, did not have the best morning.

about 30 minutes into the ultrasound, i started to feel hot and sweaty. i thought it was anxiety at first. about 2-3 minutes later, though, i thought i might lose my breakfast in the u/s room. all i remember saying next is "ummmmm, will it mess you up if i sit up for a second". i remember then hearing ben say my coloring was a beautiful shade of white and Shae (our u/s tech) saying "well honey, you don't look good". it felt like they were talking down at the other end of a tunnel or something. they almost echoed. i then thought, oh no, i'm about to bite the dust.

luckily, a cold towel and bottled water later, all was well. i was able to make it through the second half of the ultrasound just fine curled up on my left side. evidently, the 5 pounds worth of baby weight was cutting off my aortic artery blood supply. so THAT'S why i can never lay flat by the pool....ahhhh, it now makes sense!

once i made it out of u/s land, it was off to the lab. i got to guzzle some orange-flavored stuff for my glucose challenge test in 5 minutes. i felt like a college frat boy chugging a beer. all that was missing was ben chanting "go, go, go!"

after those back-to-back experiences, i was ready to call it a day. thankfully, the doctor's appointment & follow-up blood work took about 30 minutes to complete, making us done for the day.

our doctor is so pumped about how the twins are looking. really, that's all that matters. i'll pass out and drink amped up sunkist beverages all day long if if makes the twins better off in the long run. so far, they might not be cooperative for the cameras but their health sure makes mommy & daddy so proud...
