our little girl (twin A) is looking straight into the camera / (twin B) our little man is doing the typical profile pose
now that school has come to an end, these babies have been on the brain 24/7. i've tried to throw myself into other highly important activities that stretch my mental capacity to change things up a bit (ex: watching the view, the real housewives, checking our perezhilton.com, usmagazine, people.com, etc). however, none of these activities can really even tear me away from the thought of these little ones...and those that truly know me have to agree that maggie's life sure has changed these days!
instead of gossip magazines, i'm currently looking up embroidering and smocking websites for precious newborn onesies. instead of checking out young hollywood's latest "it" couple in the most recent magazine issues, i'm reading about holds for breastfeeding twins....yikes! once the twins actually appear, i might never have time to flip open my MAC or read about Brad & Angelina ever again. just kidding...i'm not that desperate:)
luckily, we had our 23-week ultrasound today & the images of our little boy and girl will occupy my thoughts for quite a bit. here is the overall rundown for today's visit...
- each baby had an estimated weight of 1 pound and 4 ounces...that's 2 1/2 pounds of baby in my belly!
- our little girl (baby A) measured a week ahead at 24 weeks and our little boy (baby B) measured 23 weeks and 5 days...even though these approximations are only estimates, measuring ahead can only be a good thing at this point
- we heard both heartbeats and they were both strong & in the 120-160 "safe range"
- our little girl is head down and our baby boy is currently breach, position-wise
- both of the kiddos' feet are located around my belly button which explains the karate action we have going on early in the morning and after dinner at night. the girls head is tucked down into the lower portion of my belly and her body is slightly curved putting her feet up to the right of her brother's feet. our little boy's head is up in between my ribs with his little footsies dangling down
- over the past week, i have had some pulling/aching pain across my lower abdomen and have literally felt as though i could "feel" my body stretching to make room for these twins. therefore, my doctor prescribed a mid-morning and mid-afternoon rest period (30 minutes each) to compensate for the double-baby duty my body is taking on. note....this by NO means equates to bed rest. he said that for now and until our next 4-week appointment, all looks fabulous for mommy and baby. ooops......BABIES!
we were so excited to have another great appointment. we truly, truly appreciate the grace we've received so far! i promise you we do! keep the prayers coming...because when you do, these babies obviously grow!!!!
Things are certainly getting interesting with these fabulous babies and their Momma! I am so excited to hear all the good news, Babies doing good, Momma doing good (up to a point!), remember...so many people love you & are ready to help you no matter what! We are ready to do whatever you need done! Take care of yourself and enjoy this wonderful ride! Life is not a race but a journey to be savored each step of the way! I LOVE YOU!
