yes, it is wonderful. yes, it is unexplainable. yes, it is 100% a god-thing that babies are being born around the clock each and every day. yes...your life will never be the same once god breathes life into your son or daughter on that fateful day (or in our case he gave his breath to both simultaneously:)
from running errands to getting ready for dinner, every aspect of living changes. a "quick bite to eat" means changing clothes and diapers on 2 extra friends in efforts to get out of the door "dry". getting a table once you get to a restaurant requires 2 more seats which often leads to a longer wait....which is obviously not good when time is of the essence. that dinner could also turn into a disaster if that "perfect toy" isn't packed into the perfect diaper bag. ahhh....the concept of dining out just isn't as appealing but cooking isn't either, dear paula deans of the world!
everything about everything requires sooooooo much thought. this is an ironic concept because playing the crazy role of "mommy" means your brain is running on empty almost constantly. thinking for little ones that don't have the capacity to do so for themselves is a scary thing when you are doing good to brush your teeth and wash your hair each day (sidenote: i'm good to go on brushing my teeth daily but the hair has definitely taken a backseat to the twins this winter)
i guess if i knew what i was getting myself into, i would have approached post-preggo life with a game plan. instead, i spent my time dreaming of the perfect monogram, searching for his/her smocked outfits, and keeping my toes painted and my eyebrows waxed in case they came unexpectedly. ignorance is bliss, i guess.
what makes it all worth it, you might ask....they do. these babies god has for some reason entrusted to us to nurture...to love...to raise. these little beings that make us cry so hard and feel so many things make everything we do for them worth it. i don't know how. they shake, rattle and roll our lives in a way that is unfathomable...and they make us experience love in a way that we never ever did before....from the moment they arrive.
| so thankful for our little tully... |
