2 days ago, i swear the babies had their best day ever. both slept a solid 11 hours without making a peep. they played gleefully for a little over 2 hours...never whining, never making a grunt...nothing. they then took a solid hour and a half morning nap. at 10:30 on the nose, they awoke for their lunch. down went their bottles and food shortly thereafter. the next couple of hours were as perfect as their morning run was. happy, happy babies.
the afternoon was like hitting a repeat button. happy babies. napping babies. cooing babies. happy, playful babies again until daddy got home. yum yum dinner babies. nighty night perfect day babies.
should i have foreseen the future after such a fabulous day? maybe. BUT.....i thanked god for that day thinking that maybe if i thank him, he would replay that day over and over like bill murray's groundhog's day. hmmmmmmmmmmm....how naive can one momma be!
48 hours after that day of bliss, the tornadoes that struck in and around the south sucked the happy spirit right out of my little ones and left me with a disaster to clean up! seriously ya'll.....it took the happy minnie and tully i know and spit out 2 little crazy kiddos!
now....let's put the overdramatic nonsense aside. we all have marvelous days. we all have days that make us feel like we are all sitting upon hot coals:) in the grand scheme of things, the good and the bad all shake out evenly.
god tells us he is with us through it all; therefore, amongst the tears and the laughs, we have to know that "great is thy faithfulness".....so we have to believe that everything will be just fine.
i was flipping channels a couple of minutes ago and a famous actor referred to raising his children saying "they are yours...and then they are the world's".... i couldn't agree more. he talked about how he treasures each day his 2 sons are in his home because one day they won't be. ugh...doesn't that thought make you sick!
i have said before that god was crazy to give us little minnie and tully. he trusts us to raise them. i am going to try and enjoy this time....it will pass by so quickly. i don't want my time with my babies to seem like a quick, short-lived tornado....
Our pastor always says that children are on loan from God. We have 18 years to raise them right and teach them about living for the Lord, then we return them back to Him. It's a lot of pressure, isn't it?! I know you guys are up for the challenge, good days and bad. Hang in there!!
