i was just downloading pictures from easter the other day and simply couldn't get over how fast
the holiday had come and gone. though it was an absolutely great easter weekend, i was simply exhausted. i never remembered this special day being so draining...maybe it is because the Lord's day was not celebrated with the accompaniment of 19-month-old twins:)
it is so easy to forget about the real meaning of easter. while church is obviously on the agenda, the hustle and bustle and excitement of bunnies, cadbury mini-eggs, and hunts can overwhelm us all. i think we all TRY to remember the REAL meaning of this amazing, astounding day....it is just hard to keep the focus in tact during it all.
the babes lasted about 10 minutes into "big church". that is what we always called formal, sunday services growing up and the title truly is fitting, isn't it? everything about easter IS just that......BIG. within the sanctuary there was a big cross, a big choir, a big crowd, and yes.....plenty were sporting some big ol' hats or "easter bonnets" as our grandmommies called them. while the spectacle captured Tully & Minnie's initial attention, it soon faded. off to the cry room they went to play with toys and eat snacks in their sunday best. too-da-loo little ones!
from church to home for a costume change we went....and then off again! the babies loved their egg hunt day and yummy lunch at bibby and poppy's oh-so-much. they had so many playmates...so many yummy lunch choices....so many many things TO play....so many of so much!!!!
needless to say when one hour past our normal nap time crept up, the kiddos crashed! mommy and daddy were feeling it as well. the day before had been filled with a baby shower and a birthday so we were ALL exhausted. great day but we were suffering from an easter hangover until mid-week:)
