mother vs. mother...

i love how when you become a mommy, you have an automatic union with which you are an immediate member.  becoming a mommy means that you are integrated into circle of other women who "get" you.
since i became a mommy in september of 2010, i have relied on other mommies to give me knowledge, guidance, and support...and my, my, my have they!

there is one "mother" though that is not on our side.  mother nature, herself, is an unpredictable, non-loyal lady that whips in out of our lives every now and again in not-so-welcomed ways. while she gives us beautiful surroundings and gorgeous days at times, she can unleash another side that scares us to death.

many murfreesboro mommies are especially scared today.  in april of 2010, tornadoes ripped through our dear town, destroying many things from property to families.  today, we all are having a hard time living with hope rather than fear because of the devastation those tornadoes did to our middle tennessee town.  while we know god is watching and protecting us as he always promises he will, many mommies are also struggling with the fear of "what if".

i was pregnant at the time when murfreesboro was "hit", actually.  i was naive and actually laughing at my husband attempt to get under a coffee table as his "safe place".  obviously, severe weather is not met with even a giggle based on what we now know can happen.  being a mommy to 2 precious babies also makes the threat and thought of deadly weather hit on a much more deeper level.

i hate even typing a sentence of negativity because media outlets and people in general bombard us all everyday with sad news and paint bleak pictures of reality.  i would much rather share light-hearted moments of my twins' crazy antics or post pictures displaying the organized chaos their lives bring ben and me on a daily basis.

what we all know, though, is that severe weather knows no boundries.  it's wrath knows no income level.  it knows no age.  it knows no christian from non-christian.  it just does it's job in an instant and vanishes.  HOWEVER, what we, AS christians know is that the lord is with us.  he is watching over us all and always emerges even when the bad weather vanishes.

i pray safety for everyone...especially for mommies everywhere who are protecting their babies as they do each and every day.
