such a pain in the.....ear

we made it almost 8 months sickness-free.  to me, that was an accomplishment.  in actuality, it was pure momma luck.

celebrating easter with family festivities and church kept us on the move.  we were outside enjoying the amazing weather all day without a care in the world.  we were enjoying our babies and even more importantly, enjoying sharing their love and life with others.

because of all of the celebrating, one of my precious babes got left with something worse than a hangover! a lovely ear infection.  i had always heard the first illness is the worst experience (for baby AND mommy). i can confirm that for me, this piece of wisdom rang true.

after rocking princess minnie for hours on end through the early-morning royal wedding, i took her in and found out her out-of-character self had a culprit...located in that little ear of hers.  no wonder she was bonkers!  once i went to the doctor and got the verdict, along with the amoxicillin, i thought my rough nights/days were over.  oh heavens to betsy.....i was oh-so wrong.

ya'll.....it has been a rough WEEK!  medicine for little ones doesn't "cure" the problem like a dosage of Tylenol knocks out a headache.  8 days into our prescription, i can NOW say we appear to be edging toward the clear.  i say that with caution BUT a wee-bit of confidence that has been found deep in my soul.....somewhere.

i have to tell you that minnie has come out of her illness much better than her mommy.  i feel and look like i have been put through the ringer.  my sweet husband would confirm.  from monday through thursday, there was no washing of the hair.  there was no home-cooked meal.  nothing.  i thought that heavy therapy and multi prescription drugs were going to have to be called in for re-enforcements.

i can go on little sleep.  what i cannot go on is NO sleep.  an early wake-up call from baby 1 or baby 2 is a great reason to thank god for a new day and folgers.  a re-occurring wake up call every hour or at every attempt at placing a baby back into a crib is a reason to pray to god for a shred of sanity.

on a happy note, tully didn't catch his sister's tainted ear!  thankfully, for now, we have little family of four that is ready to enjoy the sounds of spring:)
