once the ultrasound began, baby A just bounced & danced about. i should start praying immediately that baby A has daddy's rhythm. all i can do is step to the side and clap and that takes a great deal of effort on my part. it was almost like he/she was just so happy someone was finally giving him/her some much-needed attention. baby A just flipped and flopped, stared at us, and reclined against the little wall of the sac like he/she was hanging out on the beach with a beach beverage in hand! this little one put my heart immediately at ease.
that brings me to ben's child, baby B....this baby did not move. my doctor pressed on my belly and jiggled it about trying to make baby B bust a little move like his/her sibling just had. no luck! baby B just looked like a mini-superman (or superwoman) just soaring diagonally above it's twin. it was almost like baby B thought "hmmmmm, my twin looks oh so silly putting on a show for everyone. i think i'll just lay around and not budge like my daddy often does when mommy tries to make him do something".
let me reflect and remind you about a particular day for ben & me. on the day we found out i was having twins, sweet mrs. patsy (our sonogram genious) couldn't find baby B's heartbeat for about 10 seconds or so. she was in the middle of telling us i might have to come back in 72 hours to detect a heartbeat when baby B literally decided to make his/her little heart beat and flash for us in an instant. that baby B is sneaky, sneaky....
our twins both had wonderful, strong heartbeats last week, though. we got to see them and hear them. my doctor found them both so quickly and ben and i were simply amazed. it was the best song i had ever heard! our babies are in 2 distinct sacs with 2 distinct placentas.....and they obviously have 2 distinct personalities already!!!
we will have another basic u/s and appointment in 4 weeks. we thought that at that 17-week visit we would get to find out what these wonderful twins are (boy/boy, boy/girl, girl/girl). however, my doctor likes to wait a bit longer. we received our big ultrasound date for that exciting moment and........it's may 5th, our 3-year anniversary! ben & i just looked at one another and just knew that, once again, this whole process has been perfectly laid out and planned way before we ever knew. may 5th will no longer be "cinco de marriage" but "cinco de babies"!!!
yay! so exciting. i love how baby a, maggie and baby b, ben are so distinct! :) tell mr. pepper hello. i love all the updates!
