(a precious 17-week birthday gift from aunt dori...complete with the twins 1st personalized onesies.....absolutely adorable!)
ultrasound appointments have brought out the worst in me in this pregnancy. two different times, i became incredibly fearful about what i would see, what problems my doctor would say had presented themselves and what could be wrong with the twins. i was so fearful beforehand, i allowed myself to take the joy out of the most amazing thing ben & i have ever experienced. i literally cried myself to sleep those 2 nights because i was so afraid our awesome pregnancy story would come to an end.
finally, i decided that the feeling i had been having was unwarranted. god gave us these babies to enjoy them. i was determined to do so beginning today!
after a wonderful night's rest cuddled up with louis (louis is ben's middle name AND it is what ben happily-named my gargantuan body pillow that keeps me sleeping on my side), i woke up ready for our 17-week appointment. the day flew by and before i knew it, i found myself propped up in front of the big green monster (the booger-green ultrasound machine that looks as though it was plucked straight from the 1960's). our baby show time had arrived!
the minute the jelly hit my belly, those little ones were spotted. but they are not so little anymore! it truly is amazing how these precious little beings were first viewed at 6-weeks as mere dots. now, those dots have blossomed into the most picture-perfect visions of life i have ever seen. what began as 2 little poppyseeds are now 2 blossoming turnips!
2 heads, 4 irises/eyes, 2 mouths, 2 noses, 2 necks, 2 bellies, 4 legs, 4 arms, fingers, toes, and many little bones...every single body part we use on a daily basis was spotted today! wow! no words can express such amazement. my mom said it best today when she said "how in the world do people think that there isn't a god when they see things like an ultrasound or a new baby that has just been born"? what ben & i saw today proves that god continues to work his magic in each and every life he is creating each and every day. that brings me to our little bambinos in the making...
"baby a" is sitting on my lower right hip and always appears in a perfect little profile shot when the u/s comes across him/her. i have decided that though this baby's low position makes me use the bathroom constantly, baby a is the "obedient" one. such a little poser that one is!
"baby b", however, has always been a tricky little sucker. when baby b's turn came today, that little stinker literally turned his/her head towards the screen and made a fishy-face at me. yes, that baby literally sucked his/her cheeks in and out and in and out almost saying "hahahaha, i can tease you and you can't come in here and get me". i swear that baby b is a boy and he is going to be just like his daddy. this is the baby whose heartbeat almost didn't show at 1st. this is the baby that didn't move a muscle at the last appointment. this baby is trying my patience and life on earth hasn't begun!
in 2 weeks, we will find out what our "pair of parsleys" are. again, time truly does fly by! my gut tells me two little bouncing boys are in our future. ben changes his mind every day. one day, he is 100% sure it is two girls. the next day, his vote is for one of each. then, he finally gets to a point where he agrees with moi and says two boys. you have 2 weeks until "cinco de babies" to vote...we can't wait to find out right along with you!
God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. 2 Tim 1:7
ReplyDeleteI was terrified during the first trimester with Beatrice. I was so afraid that the worst would happen. I finally had to release it to God because it was all up to Him anyway! Try to give Him your worries and enjoy this amazing time! So happy for you guys!
First things first: AMAZING news about the ultrasound!!! Go babies, go!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard not to live in fear when you've been through what you went through to get to this point in your pregnancy. I'm pretty sure I was scared each and every day until the twins got here, so you're way ahead of me in letting go of it!
oh sweet friend. i can totally remember staying awake for hours the nights before u/s worrying that one baby wouldnt be there or something would be wrong. it was a constant "giving it over to God" thing and taking my thoughts captive! i will be praying specifically for your next u/s, that you would continue to have a peace about it and be able to enjoy these sweet babies! but still to this day (and until they are born), i long to see those precious heart beats!!!
ReplyDeletejust yesterday, i voted for 2 boys on your poll :) funny that's what you think they are!
and i have a louis to...but it doesnt have a name. according to paul, he says it's like having a 3rd person in the bed who doesnt like him! haha! i couldnt sleep w/o it! now i have to prop my belly on it so it doesnt just stick straight out when i'm on my side! haha! and dont worry about waking up on your back (i have)...that's why you're waking up--is to get yourself to roll over! just wait until those little guys are bigger and putting pressure on things and laying on your back wont even be an option!
ok...this is a long enough comment :)
so thankful those sweet blessings are healthy and already acting up! hugs and prayers!!!
Another fabulous chapter in my favorite on-going story. Put your faith in the Lord and he
