holy heartbeats!

well, we knew that since it was snowing a bit today that it would be a happy, successful day. those of you that know me AT ALL know that i do not do cold weather. cold weather is unhappy. cold weather makes people slip on ice and remain trapped in their homes. cold weather serves no purpose whatsoever except to provide you a reason to head to starbucks for an extra hot beverage of choice (and for the next couple of weeks at least i can't even have those).

that being said, we started our "cycle of success" on christmas day and since then i have had many snow days and each doctor visit practically fell on days when i was out of school. ice cold weather + snow = success for ben and maggie AND these perfect babies these days.

we had our 9-week ultrasound today...and those little babies were happy to get some attention! the minute that ultrasound started, their precious heartbeats went to town. one heartbeat was spotted and once the doctor spotted the other one's little heart beating, he said it was "beating like crazy". beat on, little hearts, beat on!

i'm thinking....these babies know that for their mommy's sanity, they need to be fluttering about to calm my nerves. both measured completely on-target as well. one measured 8 weeks and 6 days. the other little friend measured 9 weeks on the nose. from what we were told, that is pretty awesome to have them measure so closely. they have both grown approximately 5 little millimeters since friday! in my head, i feel like they've grown like a football field in length....yes, laugh out loud. i don't care. these little friends are estimated to be the size of two little green olives. hmmmm....i don't think i will ever look at an olive the same!

everything amazes us both. literally.....everything. i'm a first timer and have NO clue what to expect. i think some people either genuinely know everything about pregnancy going into the whole thing and many just act like they do. i do not fall into either category. ben and i have sisters that had great pregnancies, great babies, etc.....i should have paid much more attention to them as they went through this process, i think!

i go in for an appointment once every 4 weeks until 28 weeks. that seems SO far because i have had 3 appointments/ultrasounds in the past 2 and a half weeks! however, i'll get ultrasounds each time and get to see how their growth progresses. once we hit 28 weeks, i will go every week until they arrive.

i left out a HUGE detail in the last post and almost again in this one. our original due date was september 30th; however, twins are considered full term at 36 weeks (approximately september 2nd). my doctor induces at 37 weeks with twins...so by the 8th or 9th of september, it's time for the pair of parsley's to say hello to us all!

so....the "Parsley Countdown" ticker thing at the top of our blog is deceiving. even though it displays that i have 218 days or so to go, subtract about 24-30 days. we are under 200 days and i am still in la-la land. i prayed so long for ONE little heartbeat--ONE little friend--ONE little addition to our happy home. as i said in my last post, i LOVE LOVE LOVE god's plan so much better than mine!

so far no morning sickness. no big aches or pains. this is NOT to say that everything has gone perfectly but i have to remind myself that we are not perfect either. god tries to make us perfectly and wonderfully made....but, like us, those little babies like to alter the plan like we all do every now and again just to keep life interesting. i guess that's where faith really comes into play...

  2. Faith is going to the edge of darkness and taking one more step. You both have taken two steps and God has seen to it that you have each other and great friends and family to hold you all four of you close. LEAN ON EACH OTHER AND THEM!

  3. Congratulations Maggie and Ben! I saw your news on facebook and had to check out your blog. I can't believe you are having twins! That is awesome! Being a parent is the best thing ever - and you get two to start off with! Anyway, hope you continue to feel good throughout your pregnancy. Think of you often. Glad you are doing well.
